About Us

AYSO's six philosophies separate us from the pack:
Everyone Plays, Balanced Teams, Open Registration, Positive Coaching, Good Sportsmanship & Player Development.

Everyone Plays
Our program's goal is for kids to play soccer-so we mandate that every player on every team must play at least half of every game.

Balanced Teams
Each year we form new teams as evenly balanced as possible-because it is fair and more fun when teams of equal ability play.

Open Registration
Our program is open to all children between 4 and 19 years of age who want to register and play soccer. Interest and enthusiasm are the only criteria for playing.

Positive Coaching
Encouragement of player effort provides for greater enjoyment by the players and ultimately leads to better-skilled and better-motivated players.

Good Sportsmanship
We strive to create a positive environment based on mutual respect rather than a win-at-all-costs attitude, and our program is designed to instill good sportsmanship in every facet of AYSO.

Player Development
We believe that all players should be able to develop their soccer skills and knowledge to the best of their abilities, both individually and as members of a team, in order to maximize their enjoyment of the game.

Welcome!

We are a 100% volunteer organization that runs and manages youth soccer programs in the Upper Keys. We have programs for boys and girls from four to fourteen. Our programs are based out of Founder's Park on Plantation Key which is home to some of the finest fields in South Florida and our players come from Key Largo, Islamorada, Tavernier and Ocean Reef. Our primary season is in the fall and runs until Thanksgiving. We are fully sanctioned by American Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO).

2013 Fall Season Registration is Almost Here

We will be having live registration events on the following dates:

May 18th at Key Largo from 11am to 2pm and
June 1st at Founder's Park on Plantation Key from 11am to 2pm.

please remember to bring a copy of the player's birth certificate and please note we only accept cash, checks or money orders for payment.

The registration fee for the 2013 season will be $80 for the first player and $70 for each additional sibling. Any player registered after June 15th will be $95 with no sibling discount. After August 24th registration will go up to $120 per player with no sibling discount. The registration fee includes uniform, insurance, awards and a whole season of fun. You can register 24 hours a day online at www.eayso.org. If you register online you still need to print out two copies of your registration form, sign them and send them both along with a copy of the player's birth certificate and a check or money order for the registration fee to AYSO 864, PO Box 1328, Tavernier, FL 33070.

NEW FOR 2013: We have made arrangements for one of the AYSO Camps trainers to stay in our region for eight weeks to mentor coaches and provide some additional training opportunities for our players. This Coach Mentor will help new and experienced coaches get the most out of their players and mentor coaches on how to coach and hand down the love of the game.

We will again be hosting AYSO Camps this summer with a camp at Founder's Park this August 12-16th. They will be offering both the regular camp and the Advanced Training Camp. Both these camps received tremendous reviews and we anticipate the same this year. You have to register through their website at www.ayso.org/camps

Region 864 Rain Policy: We play unless Founders closes the park. All game delays and cancellations are game time decisions and teams should always show for their games unless they hear from the region that the game is cancelled. Any rescheduling due to rain is the responsibility of the individual coaches and they should arrange for refs and field space through Laura Weinstock, our ref administrator. her email is keysreferee@yahoo.com

Announcements

ALL WEATHER RELATED DECISIONS ARE GAME TIME DECISIONS. WE PLAY IN THE RAIN BUT IN LIGHTNING. Founders Park has a very sophisticated lightning detection system which makes such decisions very easy as a horn calls to clear the fields and then when the lighting has passed we get a three horn "all clear" and we can resume play. All teams should report for their games unless they recieve word from the league that the park is closed.
